AIRCRAFT:

Air Evac Lifeteam owns and operates the world’s largest fleet of more than 100 medically-equipped Bell 206 LongRanger helicopters, rated one of the safest general aviation aircraft in the world. The helicopters are equipped with an Allison Rolls-Royce C30 engine, Garmin 396 GPS with XM Weather overlay, Garmin 340 GPS VHF, Baker Mode S. Transponder, SkyTrac® satellite tracking, Intellistart®, and Air Evac’s proprietary litter system. The company has flown the Bell 206 LongRanger since its founding in 1985 because of its reliability, efficiency, agility and excellent safety record.

Air Evac Lifeteam realizes many benefits from its use of one model of aircraft, including efficiencies in training, maintenance and inventory management, that contribute to sustained average aircraft availability of over 98%, safe operations and a streamlined cost structure that ensures financial viability. Additionally, fleet standardization across a single aircraft platform allows Air Evac Lifeteam to efficiently and cost-effectively implement safety initiatives across the company. As an example, the company became the first air-medical operator to invest in and use a dedicated flight simulator as part of its rigorous pilot training program, something that would not have been possible with a mixed fleet. As a result of this and other initiatives, Air Evac Lifeteam has established itself as a leader within the air-medical industry in safety initiatives and has earned “Gold” status from the Aviation Research Group (ARG/US).
