The AEL Difference

RESULT: PATIENT CARE

Patient Care and Response Readiness

The clock starts ticking when an accident or health emergency happens – not once the patient reaches the emergency room. Because each second counts, quality processes matter. This includes procedures administered routinely to ensure lasting preparedness, such as a rigorous equipment maintenance regimen and persistent personnel training mandates. Air Evac Lifeteam stands ready to activate and coordinate an emergency response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks per year. Among the processes that collectively impact a critical rapid response time are:

CAMTS Accreditation

Air Evac Lifeteam is the largest air ambulance provider operating under one name to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems for excellence in patient care and safety. Quality, standardized processes and protocols ensure the highest quality patient care.

Early Activation

The company employs a process of early activation in which Air Evac Lifeteam and local ground ambulance services are notified simultaneously of emergency situations that fall within specified criteria. The Early Activation program is a cooperative effort between Air Evac Lifeteam and dispatching agencies which enables patients involved in an emergency situation to receive medical care as quickly as possible.

Base Cross-Utilization

Air Evac Lifeteam has a contiguous footprint of bases across the Central U.S. Bases are typically located within 70 miles, or a 15-minute flight, of each other. Since bases are in such close proximity, crews from adjacent bases, as needed, can respond to the nature and location of each call.

Centralized Operations Center

Air Evac Lifeteam’s state-of-the-art operations center receives all incoming calls and dispatches all crews. The real-time movement and availability of each aircraft in its multi-state network is also constantly monitored. This centralized approach enables Air Evac Lifeteam to coordinate rapid deployment of appropriate crews, geographically and in number. For example, a multiple victim emergency could require response from multiple aircraft. In the event of an accident or medical emergency, Air Evac Lifeteam can assess the situation and rapidly deploy the required teams from multiple neighboring bases.

Communications Specialists

Communication Specialists include over 100 emergency medical technicians, paramedics and air communication specialists whose expertise further maximizes the prompt, safe deployment and turnaround time that rural residents need to improve their outcomes.
